Trading City Lights for Country Quiet: A Winter's Tale of Coming Home

Well, hello there! If you've been following along, you might have noticed a bit of a shift in my scenery lately. And if you haven't, let me tell you – it's been a big one! This past winter, I packed up my life (and a couple of very fluffy kittens!) and made the leap back to the countryside of Eastern Ontario. Specifically, to the charming area around Lansdowne, not too far from the beautiful town of Gananoque.

For those who know me from way back when, this might ring a bell. About a decade ago, this very region was my home. Life, as it often does, took me on a detour back to the bright lights and bustling energy of Toronto. And while I cherished my time in the city, a familiar yearning for a different pace began to grow. The relentless hustle, the constant grind… it started to feel less like ambition and more like a drain on the very things I hold dear – my art and my well-being.

So, I listened to that inner voice, the one that whispered of quiet mornings and the gentle rhythm of nature. This winter, I answered its call.

This move isn't just about a change of address; it's a conscious shift in focus. While teaching art workshops across Ontario has always been a passion, I'm now carving out more dedicated time for my own painting practice. I envision a beautiful balance, where the energy I gain from sharing my knowledge fuels my personal creativity, and vice versa. And yes, the retreats at the wonderful Cove in Westport will absolutely continue – I can't wait to welcome you there!

Life in the country has already brought so much joy. My two little feline companions are thriving in the wide-open spaces (well, the indoor wide-open spaces for now!). And I've landed in the most wonderful living situation with a dear friend who has two incredibly sweet children and a couple of equally adorable cats, two roosters and 11 chickens! Our home is a vibrant hub of laughter, creativity, and shared inspiration. It's truly heartwarming to be surrounded by such positive energy.

The quiet beauty of winter here has been a balm for the soul. The crisp air, the snow-covered landscapes – it's a far cry from the concrete jungle, and my artistic spirit is already feeling rejuvenated. As the seasons begin to turn, I'm buzzing with ideas for new artistic offerings. Think fresh perspectives, inspired by the burgeoning life of spring, the vibrant hues of summer, and the rich tones of autumn.

I'm so excited to share this next chapter with you all. Stay connected through my social media channels – I'll be posting updates on my artwork, workshop schedules, retreat dates, and glimpses into my peaceful country life. Trust me, there will be some great stuff coming your way soon!

Thank you for being a part of my journey. Here's to new beginnings, creative exploration, and the beautiful simplicity of a life lived with intention.
