Expressive Mark Making, 5 day workshop: July 7-11, 2025

Rekindle your creative freedom with expressive mark-making that automatically taps into your experiences, memories, ideas, and emotions. Master skills that will enhance future drawing and painting strokes, and learn how to combine principles and elements of design from nature to create compositionally sound artworks. Whether you are interested in non-objective or abstracted themes, these skill-building exercises will have you falling in love with the creative process and producing richly satisfying drawings. Preparing active drawing grounds for charcoal, graphite, soft pastel, coloured pencil, ink, and water-based paints (watercolour, gouache, acrylics) on paper, washi and birch wood will be explored. Mixed Media Drawing and Painting, 5 day workshop: July 14 -18, 2025

The combination of drawing and painting together offers exciting possibilities, from traditional to contemporary applications. This course will reveal the freedom and versatility of mixed media on a range of elegant surfaces for high realism to expressive portraits, still life, florals, animals, landscapes, and experimental abstract works. Embrace lively discussions, innovative projects for all levels, inspiring demonstrations, and constructive critiques to find joy in the process of creating beautiful, exciting works of art!
