CONNECT TO THE SPIRIT OF THE LAND, WATER & SKY

The Lodge on Amherst Island ART RETREAT
Hosted by The Lodge on Amherst Island and Sharlena Wood

  • Summer 2024 • Sunday, August 18 - Saturday, August 24 (6 nights)

Cheers to the 5th year that The Lodge on Amherst Island welcomes us to their magnificent studio on Stella Bay, which promises to ignite passion, awe, and wonder in every corner of your soul! This is an opportunity to create and be inspired by the beauty of Amherst Island (between Kingston & Glenora) on Lake Ontario, Canada.

This year’s focus is on expressive landscapes - connecting to the spirit of the land, to study the movement of trees, lake rhythms and wild skies, painting earthy colour palettes and signature brushstrokes. Feel your emotions come into focus, finding your spirit between nature and the canvas! Mornings will begin with demonstrations of materials and techniques, leading into open studio time in the afternoons for personal projects and requests. There will be unfettered guidance, critiques, drawing, painting in your chosen medium, mixed media expertise, specially catered meals, board games, games, movie nights, massage therapy (optional/extra), bonfires, country walks, swimming, and plein air painting excursions. Note: The studio is available for night owls who want to work after hours, within reason and consideration of fellow members.

AMHERST ISLAND ART RETREAT is a nourishing, liberating experience for all levels of artists. This is much more than just a painting retreat…. it’s an opportunity to break open, move through fears, and step into a more vibrant, playful, and creative way of living and expressing yourself in the world. No art experience is necessary. Please come as you are. This is a judgment-free zone. All mediums are welcome! (oil, acrylic, watercolour, soft pastel, mixed media, collage, monotypes, drawing). Demonstrations will be primarily in painting and drawing materials, with one-on-one support in the afternoons.
